Jam Night was temporarily halted during the pandemic, and discussion is now underway about its return.
When it does, return you may expect an open acoustic jam for all area musicians to gather and play music together in a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. Anyone is welcome to play along, sing, or just listen. Refreshments are served and there is no admission charge, although a donation jar is always available for those who wish to contribute to The Moon’s mission!
All skill levels and musical genres are welcome to join in. Participants sit in a large circle and take turns selecting the songs. Everyone is encouraged to come prepared to suggest a few numbers for the group to play, but there is no pressure if you’re not comfortable leading. From blues to bluegrass, Celtic to country, folk to funk, rock to reggae, Americana, or even a little jazz – any type of music is welcome. It is a great way for musicians to experiment with a variety of styles, learn new songs and widen their repertoire. The jams are also an excellent way for less experienced musicians to play along with and learn from people who have been playing for years. Those who don’t yet feel comfortable in a performance situation will be able to gain confidence playing in front of others without any fear of pressure or embarrassment. Perhaps more importantly, there is no better way to have fun and warm your heart than to laugh, sing, and make music with both new and old friends.
We hope to see you once Jam Night takes off again!
There is no need to sign up in advance. Just show up with your instrument on the second Wednesday of each month - 7 pm. Audience members are also welcome to attend and watch.
